2008 RATTLE RUN FARMS DRESSAGE SCHOOLING SHOW RULES

(Rattle Run Farms Dressage Schooling Shows may be referred to as RRFDSS in this Omnibus)

1. Rules

USDF/USEF Rules apply. Open to all breeds.

2. Tests

Tests used are the current USDF tests.
Horses may be entered in two consecutive levels only.
Riders may have all tests read, except Freestyles.
RRFDSS test scores may be submitted for MDA year-end awards by MDA members.

3. Helmet Requirement

ASTM approved helmets must be worn by all riders when mounted, with the exception of adults who file a waiver at the show office.

4. Attire & Tack

USDF Rules apply.

5. Divisions

•Jr/Yg Rider: (Jr/Yg): up to 21 years old as of 1/01/08.
Junior/Young Riders may ride in Open classes.
Novice Rider: (NR): a rider in his or her first 2 seasons of dressage shows.
Novice Horse: (NH): a horse or pony in its first 2 show seasons of dressage classes.

6. Classes

Changes to Classes after closing date

There will be no changes of classes after the show’s closing date unless the change is deemed necessary by show management or staff. If a rider has entered a class he or she is not eligible for, the entry fee must be forfeited.

Ride Times/Changes to Ride Times

Shows start at 9 AM. Changes in ride times may be made by show management after closing date and publication of ride times. Check posted ride times at www.rrfdss.com or at the show office.

Added Classes

Classes may be added for an already entered participant on the day of the show at the discretion of show management, if time permits. Show management will charge a fee of $30 per class for all added classes.

7. Show Entries

Payment: No entry will be accepted without full payment.
Post-dated checks will not be accepted. No entries accepted day of show.

Fees:
Classes $20 each
Stabling $35/overnight or $25/day of show
Bedding $8/bale
Haul-In Fee (not stabled) $15
Office fee $10

Refunds: The will be no refunds after closing date.

Returned checks: A processing fee of up to $50 will be charged by Rattle Run Farms for any checks returned by the bank for any reason. Failure to settle debt with Rattle Run Farms will result in the loss of all credits towards Year End Awards and will result in the loss of the privilege of showing at future Rattle Run Farms Dressage Schooling Shows until the debt is resolved.

Signatures: No entry will be accepted without all correct and complete signatures.

Negative Coggins Test: No entry will be accepted without a photocopy of a negative Coggins test for each horse brought to the show grounds. A photocopy of a negative Coggins test, dated on or after January 1st of the current show year, must be mailed with each entry form.

Entry Form: One entry form must be submitted per each horse/rider combination.

Closing Date/entry acceptance/late entries: The closing date is the date by which an entry must be received - not the postmarked date. Entries received after the closing date are considered late and will be charged an additional $10 per class, if accepted. Entries will be accepted until the show is full or closing date, whichever comes first.

8. Ribbons and Awards

Up to 6 ribbons per class and High Percentage awards will be presented at each show. (See page 6.) Champion and Reserve Champion awards will be presented to the highest and next highest point earners (see Divisions on page 7) at the last show of the show season. Certificates of Achievement will be mailed.

9. Stalls

Stabling ($35/overnight or $25/day of show) is optional and is limited. Stalls will be reserved first-come, first-served, based on the dates that show entries are received (not postmarked.)

Payment for a stall fee does not guarantee a stall. If no stall is available, stall fees will be refunded, and the entrant will be notified prior to the show. There will be no refund of class or any other fees, beyond the stall fee, after the show’s closing date.

10. Camping

Must be pre-registered. Contact Rattle Run Farms for registration form.

11. Showing from Trailer

Horses showing from trailers will be charged a $15 Haul-In Fee per entry. Horses tied to trailers must be attended to at all times. No liability will be assumed by Rattle Run Farms for a tied horse or a loose horse or any damages they may cause.

12. Anything Goes Musical Freestyle

Costumes required.

Levels Allowed: Training Level and above.

Time: The maximum time allowed is seven minutes; there is no minimum time.

Movements: Movements from any level may be ridden without penalty.

Scoring and Judging: The Anything Goes Musical Freestyle class will be judged as follows:

Technical — 10 points
Submission — 10 points
Costume — 10 points
Program/choreography — 10 points
Music — 10 points
Total points — 50

Ties: Ties will be broken by the judge. A fall constitutes an automatic elimination. • Attire: Costumes are required. Riders under age 21 must wear an ASTM approved helmet.

Music and Music CD: Music is mandatory and must be on a CD. Music may start before, while or after the horse(s) and rider(s) enter the ring. The exhibitor should indicate in writing on the CD when the music starts. The name of the rider and horse and should also be written on the CD. An extra copy should be brought to the competition.

Arena letters: Arena letters should service as markers only; movements and figures need not be executed at specific letters.

13. Dogs

Dogs must be on a leash at all times. Please clean up after your dog.

14. Footing/Arenas

Groomed indoor and outdoor sand arenas and designated lunging area.

15. Disputes

In the case of a dispute involving show results in a class, the decision of the judge is final. Any other dispute will be arbitrated by show management.

16. Michigan Equine Liability Law

By submitting an entry, the competitor agrees that they, the owner, handler, trainer, parent and anyone associated with exhibiting a horse at Rattle Run Farms Dressage Schooling Shows waives all claims against the show, show management, Rattle Run Farms and its employees, the facility, its owners and agents for any injuries to themselves, attendants or horses.

When coming onto the show grounds of Rattle Run Farms, every competitor, owner, handler, trainer, parent, guardian and spectator automatically assumes the risks associated with equine activities covered under the Michigan Equine Liability Law, 1994 Public Act No. 351.
