How to decide what you want to do...

It may help to ask yourself the following questions:
What or who will be in this painting?
Is this a formal or informal painting?
What will the painting say about the subject?
Will this painting tell a story, commemorate an event,
or have religious significance?
Who will be viewing the painting?
Is the painting a gift?
Where will it hang?
Will the painting be passed on to heirs or placed in an institution?
How big is the space available for the painting?
Will the painting hang in a formal or informal room?
What are the main colors in the room?
What kind of light is in the room where the painting will hang:
flourescent, incandescent, or natural?
What is the preferred style of painting: realistic, modern, or other.
What is the preferred medium: oil, acrylic, pencil, etc.?
How much will the painting cost?
How many subjects are in the painting?
In what detail will they be painted?
Will any animals or objects be placed in the painting?
What kind of background is preferred?
Will the subject(s) be available for sittings?
Are photographs or other material available to help the artist?
Is there a deadline for the completion of the painti?
