GOODELLS EQUESTRIAN CENTER NEWS

4/5/12/12: It was a warm winter and onow Spring is here with birds chirping and building nests, dandelions blooming, horses shedding, mud, and so on...We are looking forward to the shows this summer and to clinics with Maryal Barnett in the fall and winter. Our first arena mirror is going up this week and that's exciting! It's plastic and, of course, the horses will probably put scratches in it, but so what? It's their barn too! We will be adding more mirrors as the months go along...more news later.

2/18/12: It has been eight months and I haven't updated this page!!! We've been busy:
1. NEW HORSES/BOARDERS: We've added stalls and wonderful boarders have filled them. Marcia, Bonnie, Mary, Kristi, Nicki, Gail B, and Terry have joined us with their horses: warmblood, Haflinger, Paint, Quarter Horses and Arab crosses. We love them all! Meghan R has left for college and took Rocky with her. We miss them. Our Megan M has been busy with her future husband and leased Jack to Samanth (lucky girl) and our Meghan S acquired her third horse! Way to go, girl! Sara has joined our workforce and will bring a horse in on trial, and if they hit it off, she will purchase her first horse! That's exciting! Barb N won a Championship at Training Level and a Reserve at First Level! This year, 2012, she is developing her new prospect, Bella. Marcia took Fusion to his first show and he was a trooper! Won her some mighty pretty ribbons: I think first and second places. Rion went to his first shows and placed very well. I think he won both his classes at his first show! Reggie purchased a new horse, Zoltan, who won our heart the minute we met him. He is a special guy and, Reggie, you deserve him!!! Gail M bought a Nakota horse and we are facinated with his personality and intelligence. The Nakota horse is an American breed developed from wild horses in the west. Google Nakota Horse and learn more about them! They are fantastic!
2. IMPROVEMENTS: We acquired a new hay shed and re-newed our arena footing. Our next arena project: mirrors!
3. OTHER NEWS: Nicole graduated from nursing school and found herself a fantastic job! Congrats, girl!
More news later. I'll try to do a better job of keeping up with everything on this page.

6/5/11: Carol R., Meghan's Mom, told us that Meghan got 2nd in all her classes (Western Horsemanship, Senior Western Pleasure & 6 and Up Sweepstakes) at her first show this season and won $16 in the Sweepstakes! Quite a victory, considering that she wasn't able to ride last year due to a serious car accident. She started riding this year, very slowly and carefully, but with her quiet determination and focus. Well, you see what happened! Congratulations to Meghan!

And it was a victory show for all the Meg(h)ans! (We have 3.) Meghan S., our English /Western Pleasure/Gaming diva on a tough Thoroughbred mare, scooped up a fist full of ribbons and Megan M., our Western Pleasure Young Horse Champion from last year, took upper echelon ribbons in all her classes! As Lynn T. put it: "The Meg(h)ans won everything!

6/5/11: It's Jill S's birthday today! Happy Birthday to Mama Jill!

6/12/11 Dressage News: 5 of our "dressage team" attended the June Rattle Run Schooling Show: Sandi Z. came as our reader. Barb N. brought Dixie, her Quarter Horse mare, and showed T3 and F1, Gail M. brought American Tuff, her Quarter Horse gelding, and Centurion (aka Rion), her Freisian/TB gelding, and showed F1 and T3, Reggie brought Crown Jewel, her crossbred mare, and showed T1, 2, and 3 and Char brought Gotsno, her German Warmblood gelding, and showed F1 and 2 and Allure, her Dutch Warmblood mare, to "see the sights."

Barb N. earned a 1st place in Training 3 and a 3rd place in First 1.

For Gail, Rion's composure was such that he rearned a 1st place ribbon in his class! Tuff put in a smooth test at First 1 and earned a 2nd place.

Reggie's Jewel was a little doubtful about entering the ring but her tests were consistent and earned her a 2nd place in Training 1, a first place in Training 2 and a 2nd place in Training 3.

After a long warm-up, Gotsno entered his First 1 class and, even though his rider committed pilot errors, earned a first place. His also won his First 2 class, without pilot errors, but with plenty of training issues to work on at home! Allure surprised her owner and was a well-behaved young lady for her first time away from home since her purchase as a weanling! She was not shown.
